BYKO-LAT was established in 1993 as a subsidiary of Iceland based Norvik HF. Built from the scratch BYKO-LAT evolved into one of the largest and most efficient timber production plants in Latvia and currently is one of the leading forest products exporters from the country.
BYKO-LAT operates two production plants in Valmiera and Cesis, both located northeast of Latvia’s capital Riga.
At Valmiera’s plant with a total land area of 25 ha BYKO-LAT produces kiln-dried, planed timber, cladding and decking timber, wooden windows and doors as well prefabricated timber element houses.
Garden products are produced at Cesis plant with a total land area of about 10 ha. The range of products includes fence panels and components, garden tables, decking components, planters and other garden products. Besides Cesis plant produces high quality wooden pellets for heating.
More than 90% of goods are sold outside Latvia – mainly to the United Kingdom, Netherlands, France, Belgium, Denmark, Norway and Iceland.
BYKO-LAT sales in 2019 exceeded 79 million EUR. The company employs more than 500 employees.
Since 2018 Byko-Lat is a part of Bergs, an international wood products Group, listed on Nasdaq Stockholm.
With wood as a raw material, Bergs develops and provides processed wood products from sustainably cultivated forests in the Baltic Sea region.
