1993
Back in 1993 the Icelandic company NORVIK hf ventured to the Baltic states and established SIA BIKO-LAT in Latvia. Today BIKO-LAT is one of the largest and most efficient production plants in Latvia. BIKO-LAT is one of the leading Latvian exporters of timber products. We produce dried, planed timber, finish and terrace materials, fences, garden furniture, wooden windows and doors, as well as wooden panel houses. Most of our timber products also undergo special pressurised treatment (impregnation), significantly increasing the durability and resistance of the timber to humidity, fungal decay and structural damage caused by insects.

2011
In September BIKO-LAT garden products dapartament participated with its own stand at the Glee exhibition in UK. Glee is the UK's most comprehensive trade show for the garden, landscaping, leisure and pet industries. Glee
BIKO-LAT has started its 3rd planing line on the 1st of July. Annual production capacity will be increased from 120`000 m3 to 160`000 m3. The main gain from the production capacity increase will be better flexibility and decreased production lead times for our customers.
2010
In November of year 2010 Ltd. Biko-Lat became a finalist in the contest Export and Innovation Award 2010 organised by the Ministry of Economics of Republic of Latvia and Investment and Development Agency of Latvia. We competed in the category Import Substitute Product with one of our products – wood pellets. Recognition.
In January 2010 BIKO-LAT obtained CE marking – certifying that all our products meet European Union consumer safety, health and environmental requirements.
2009
BIKO-LAT have obtained the CTB B+ treatment certificate - a precondition for successful operations on the French timber market. The certificate confirms that we can be absolutely sure about the quality of our timber treatment process. In 2009 only 68 companies in the world had gained the right to use the CTB B+ certificate.
We also obtained CE marking for our coniferous sawn timber products used for wooden constructions. This certificate confirms regular supervision and evaluation of the control over our products.
In this year BIKO-LAT also started producing oak windows and doors targeting the British market. Special environmental and human-friendly oil is used for the material finish. The new product reached a 7 % market share in terms of sales in the UK market in just one year.
2008
BIKO-LAT was faced with maintaining its timber processing companies during a harsh global economic crisis. Sales volumes decreased significantly in some of our main export markets, like Iceland and the UK. In order to compensate for a 40 % drop in turnover, the company made remarkable efforts in cost optimisation.
2003
BIKO-LAT started producing wooden windows and doors. Initially, products conformed to the Scandinavian standard, mainly for sale on the Icelandic market. Later, German and UK standards were also applied.
In 2003 the President of Iceland, Ólafur Ragnar Grímsson, visited BIKO-LAT as an honorary visitor at the company's 10th anniversary.
2002
The Company started marking its products with the FSC certification label, which certifies that BIKO-LAT uses timber only from responsibly-managed forests.
2001
BIKO-LAT started the production of garden products and fences. Since 2008 these garden products have been exported to over 10 different EU member states.
1998
The company's first timber product production line was launched. From then on we have produced timber products with higher added value.
